PTA as well Huawei Pakistan sign MoU to encourage Gender Inclusion and Women Empowerment

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Huawei Pakistan have signed a memorandum of understanding to close the digital divide and decrease the gender gap by helping women become empowered through digital technology over Pakistan, including Punjab, KPY, and Sindh starting with.

Connectivity to the Internet and digital skills development will allow women to create new businesses and sell their products to new markets places. Unfortunately, the gap between women and men in Pakistan’s ICT usage has not decreased over the past few years, but this MoU signing is aimed at reducing this.

Huawei plans to aid PTA by launching initiatives to close the gender gap by promoting awareness and acquiring digital skills by women. In this context, Huawei plans to launch courses aimed at 500 women by 2022.

Huawei also plans to assist PTA by hosting initiatives, training pieces, and other activities to encourage Gender Inclusion in ICTs in partnership with other organizations. In addition, a greater focus on gender equality will open the way to female participation in ICT Academies, CSR initiatives, and providing tools at a low cost and gadgets, including phones and smartphones, for women to aid in effortless learning.
